They waited too long
|Hello friends, |
This can be heartbreaking. We want to help everyone who comes through our office door. Normally, we can help most everyone, but this couple had waited too long…
In our last newsletter we told you about Charlie and Rhonda and how they were depleting their money due to medical expenses. They didn’t know the best way to draw their money down and their financial adviser of many years had never helped them have a plan.
Charlie had found us as a last resort when he was searching for answers. He had allowed time to test his financial plan, and during this period of his life he was physically and mentally stressed.
He’d been caring for Rhonda during her cancer treatments. If you’ve ever been a caretaker for a sick person, you understand the toll that can take on a person.
These sweet people had gotten to the age where their financial options were limited. As we age our options for how we can invest our money changes.
Also, their investments had a lot of strings attached to them. They were locked into a plan that had holes. They needed a new roof in a sense. Their financial house was flooding, but we could only patch some holes.
Please allow us to stress test your financial plan before a hardship or crisis happens to you. It’s easier to make changes when things are going well instead of when things are going badly. And let’s face it, our life could change within a blink of an eye.
In the Bible, Proverbs 27:1 instructs, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” Don’t wait too long to find out if your financial plan is strong enough.
Until next time,
David C. Treece
PS: Despite the stock market recently hitting new highs, there is still a risk of a market correction. Do you have a plan in place to mitigate your losses should the market take a downturn? If you’re retired and your plan is to “hold on” until it come back, we need to talk. Soon. That may not work… 864.618.4800
